Press Conference

Interreg Italy Croatia Programme

BOOST5

29 June 2022

Civic Museum Bari 11.00

Tecnopolis, Science and Technology Park of the University of Bari, organises on Wednesday 29 June at the Civic Museum of Bari (Strada Sagges, 13 – 70121 Bari) at 11.00 a.m. the press conference for the presentation of the European cooperation project BOOST5, financed by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme.

The Boost5 project, acronym of “Leveraging results of 5 Italy-Croatia projects to boost touristic valorisation of cultural, off-road, industrial and natural heritage” brings together and valorises the best results achieved by 5 cooperation projects, ATLAS, REVIVAL, TEMPUS, UNDERWATERMUSE and MADE IN LAND, already financed by the Italy-Croatia European Cooperation Programme, with the final objective of sharing a common and effective methodology among the 8 participating partners, in order to ensure the revitalisation of the natural and cultural heritage of the territories involved by promoting a balanced sustainable and innovative development of the territory.

BOOST5, financed for about EUR 600,000.00, is coordinated by Tecnopolis, in cooperation with 7 other partners: Friuli Innovation Consortium, Sipro Development Agency – Ferrara, Step Ri Science And Technology Park Of The University Of Rijeka Ltd, Marche Region, Zadar County Development Agency Zadra Nova, City Of Rijeka, Regional Institute For The Cultural Heritage Of Autonomous Region Of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The consortium will meet in Bari to present the activities of the project, which aims to enhance the cultural heritage through the promotion of new market opportunities, capacity building plans and innovative approaches, and the promotion of sustainability such as the ‘green label’ destination accreditation and ‘0 impact tourism’.

The pandemic, in fact, has shown that tourism is an economic force and a driving source of livelihood for the areas of the Italy-Croatia Programme, but it has also shown the fragility of the sector, with an offer that is still highly fragmented, low digital intensity with a sometimes forgotten cultural heritage and unbalanced tourist landscapes.

Thus the need to promote synergies between the several public and private actors and relevant stakeholders in the area, such as tourist operators, cultural and creative enterprises, cultural operators, local players, policy makers, for the joint adoption of sustainable development policies, the analysis of the best cultural itineraries leading to the creation of new networks of alternative natural and cultural itineraries in the programme area, focused on accessibility, sustainability and the transfer of tourist flows towards lesser known attractions.

Special guests during the press conference will be: Davide De Nicolò, project manager of Tecnopolis, who will present the aims and actions of the project, Ines Pierucci, Councillor for Culture, Territorial Marketing and Tourism of the Municipality of Bari, Anca Daniela Simion, project officer of the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme, Raffaella Triponsi, project coordinator for the Marche Region, Anita Pribanić, project manager of STEP RI Croatian Science and Technology Park of the University of Rijeka
