S.I.PRO. was set up in 1975 whose mission was to investigate, undertake and promote “[…] initiatives aimed at fostering the settlement of new enterprises in the whole Ostellato area […]” through the acquisition and equipment of industrial and handicraft areas, study and research works aimed at the enhancement of the local resources of the Lower Ferrara District.
In 1986 SIPRO partially changed its statute and extended its scope of action. It thus covered a wider area, also encompassing the Municipality of Ferrara, which entered into partnership with it. It was therefore involved in the urbanization of the Mizzana area, located close to the A13 – Northern Ferrara motorway exit.
In 1999 SIPRO was turned into a Provincial Development Agency, whose task was to take action on the whole provincial territory. Thanks to the favourable quality results achieved in implementing the Objective 2 measures, SIPRO was also entrusted with the task to manage the Special Area Programme of the Lower District of Ferrara as well as the Regional Agreement for Ferrara.
Since 2001, SIPRO has become the privileged partner of the local authorities and of the Provincial Authority of Ferrara for the management of Community Programmes, such as Objective 2 and the design of integrated action, subsidized by local and Community funds, such as the Integrated Regional Marketing Plan for the Province of Ferrara.
Over the past 3 years SIPRO has carried out studies and field experiences concerning the so-called TEEA – Technologically and Environmentally Equipped Areas.
